New Year’s Celebrations
The New Year in Australia is an important event.
Celebrations are popular on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Some people also go to churches on the Eve or Day.
Each major Australian city has a count down party that ends with fireworks at midnight.
This year I went with friends to a restaurant on the Brisbane river.
We had a wonderful four course meal of seafood and beef then watched the fireworks at midnight.
The night also included a lot of wine and beer.
Eventually we all got home around 3AM.
The next morning I had to get up kind of early, about 9AM.
My family in Brisbane was having a New Year’s lunch.
This is pretty common on New Year’s Day.
It’s mostly a family day with the younger members probably nursing a hangover.
